Regular Season Round 28: Napoli - Matera 77-69

Date: March 4, 2012
Very expected game when 5th ranked Matera (11-15) was defeated on the road by first ranked Napoli (23-5) 77-69 on Sunday. Matera was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 28-18 charge of Napoli, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Matera turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Argentinian guard Bernardo Musso (192-86) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Nelson Rizzitiello (198-84) who added 16 points during the contest. At the losing side naturalized Argentinian guard Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) responded with 18 points and swingman Andrea LaGioia (194-86, agency: Players Group) scored 14 points. Matera's coach Francesco Ponticiello gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Napoli maintains first position with 23-5 record. Matera lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 15 games lost. Napoli will face Anagni (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Matera will play against Ferentino and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
