Second Stage Round 28: Sionista - Penarol 79-65

The most important game in the last round took place in Parana between second ranked Penarol (19-9) and fifth ranked Sionista (16-10) on Sunday night. Penarol was defeated by Sionista on the road 65-79. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Penarol. The game was mostly controlled by Sionista. Penarol managed to win third quarter 19-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Penarol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Hakeem Rollins (202-83, college: Washington, agency: Dream Team Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. Swingman Federico Ferrini (194-83) contributed with 12 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Sionista players scored in double figures. Guard Facundo Campazzo (180-91) replied with 21 points and the former international power forward Martin Leiva (208-80) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Penarol. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sionista maintains fifth position with 16-10 record. Defending champion Penarol keeps the second place with nine games lost. Sionista are looking forward to face Club 9 (#14) in Rio Tercero in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Penarol will play at home against Lanus (#3) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
