Date: March 4, 2012
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Malmo: Malbas (#1) and Srbija (#5). Malbas (20-1) won against visiting Srbija (11-9) 87-77. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 30-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Malbas had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Srbija helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Australian guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) who had a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds. Power forward Alexander Nilsson (-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Malbas' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kristoffer Gafor produced 22 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Serbian forward Nino Zurovac (202-80) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Malbas have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position in South with 20-1 record. Srbija lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with nine games lost. Malbas are looking forward to face Hogsbo (#11) in Goteborg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Srbija will play at home against Hoganas (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
