Regular Season Round 21: Ancona - Orvieto 51-39

Ancona's home win over 5th ranked Orvieto 51-39 was very exciting. The game was mostly controlled by Ancona. Orvieto was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Orvieto to just 7 points in first and third quarters. Guard Carola Sordi (179-82) stepped up and scored 30 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and forward Roberta Racca (181-87) chipped in 2 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was international forward Francesca Mariani (188-85) with 13 points and 6 rebounds and international forward Alessandra Tava (184-91) scored 10 points. Ancona (9-10) moved-up to seventh place in South. Loser Orvieto keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Ancona will face Consum.it Siena (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Orvieto will play against S. La Spezia (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
