Regular Season Round 27: DU - Kolibri/U-16 75-60

Bottom-ranked Kolibri/U-16 (0-23) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 75-60 loss to sixth ranked Daugavpils Universitate (10-14) in Daugavpils on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Daugavpils Universitate. Kolibri/U-16 managed to win third quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Daugavpils Universitate forced 19 Kolibri/U-16 turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Kristina Egle (177-86) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Olga Kazakevica (165-90) chipped in 18 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four Daugavpils Universitate players scored in double figures. Daugavpils Universitate's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Kate Kreslina (178-96) who recorded 24 points and 6 rebounds and Katrina Vectirane added 4 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Daugavpils Universitate maintains sixth place with 10-14 record. Newly promoted Kolibri/U-16 still closes the standings. Daugavpils Universitate are looking forward to face league's second-placed Cesis on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kolibri/U-16 will have a break next round.
