Regular Season Round 29: Firenze - Santarcangelo 88-70

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Firenze (8-20) won against at home 4th placed Santarcangelo (10-18) 88-70 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-70. Firenze made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Santarcangelo turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international center Federico Bellina (205-79, agency: Players Group) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Andrea Giampaoli (185-90) chipped in 19 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Firenze players scored in double figures. Firenze's coach Riccardo Paolini used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Luca Bedetti (193-89) produced 16 points and 5 steals and guard Matteo Palermo (190-91) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Firenze moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Comsum.it SI. Santarcangelo at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with 18 games lost. Firenze will face league's second-placed Trento on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santarcangelo will play against Pavia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
