Regular Season Round 29: Matera - FCM Ferentino 63-74

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Matera (11-16) was defeated at home by third ranked Ferentino (16-11) 74-63 on Thursday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Ferentino forced 20 Matera turnovers and outrebounded them 43-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was naturalized Argentinian swingman Manuel Carrizo (198-80, agency: Players Group) who scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (207-91) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian guard Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) produced 13 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and swingman Andrea LaGioia (194-86, agency: Players Group) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ferentino maintains third place with 16-11 record having eleven points less than leader Napoli. Matera lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 16 games lost. Ferentino will face Bari (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Matera will play against Ruvo in Ruvo di Puglia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
