Regular Season Round 23: Hawks - Kings 81-92
Date: March 9, 2012
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Kings (10-16) beat bottom-ranked Wollongong Hawks (6-19) in Gwynneville 92-81 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Kings. Wollongong Hawks managed to win third quarter 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Kings especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 71.4 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Kazakhstan swingman Anatoly Bose (200-88, college: Nicholls St., agency: Priority Sports) accounted for 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Kings players scored in double figures. Power forward Larry Davidson (206-83, college: Boise St.) came up with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and swingman Timothy Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Wollongong Hawks in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kings maintains seventh place with 10-16 record. Wollongong Hawks lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 19 games lost. Kings will meet higher ranked Cairns Taipans (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wollongong Hawks will play against Melbourne Tigers (#6) and hope to secure a win.
