There was an upset in Santiado Estero where leader Obras (19-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Quimsa (16-13) 77-73 on Friday. Obras was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Naturalized Italian center Damian Tintorelli (204-81, agency: Players Group) stepped up and scored 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American power forward James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Tony Washam (200-82, college: St.Vincent) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and international power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Obras' coach Julio Cesar Lamas let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Quimsa have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 16-13 record, which they share with Atenas and GECR Indalo. Obras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second position with ten games lost. Quimsa will face Olimpico de La Banda (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Obras will play against Sionista (#5) in Parana.
