Top ranked Joensuun Kataja (26-9) recorded its ninth loss in Kotka on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked KTP-Basket (15-20) 105-87. The game was mostly controlled by KTP-Basket. Joensuun Kataja managed to win third quarter 33-32. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Tim Blue (205-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import swingman Tony Crocker (201-87, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international power forward Sami Lehtoranta (205-79) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and American guard B.A. Walker (188-84, college: VCU, agency: Pro One Sports) added 25 points respectively for the guests. Five KTP-Basket and four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. KTP-Basket maintains sixth position with 15-20 record, which they share with Salon Vilpas. Joensuun Kataja at the other side still keeps top place with nine games lost. KTP-Basket is looking forward to face LrNMKY (#8) in Lappeenranta in the next round. Joensuun Kataja will play at home against the league's second-placed Loimaan Korikonkarit (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
