Very important is a road loss of second ranked Akita Happinets (23-16) against fifth ranked Shiga L-Stars (22-15) on Saturday night. Visiting Akita Happinets were defeated by Shiga L-Stars in a tough game in Shiga 78-86. Akita Happinets were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Shiga L-Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Akita Happinets' 32. Shiga L-Stars forced 19 Akita Happinets turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American-Kittitian forward Kyle Swanston (201-86, college: JMU, agency: SDJ Sports) answered with 29 points and American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) added 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Akita Happinets. Akita Happinets' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Shiga L-Stars maintains fifth place with 22-15 record. Akita Happinets at the other side keep the second position with 16 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will again play against league's second-placed Akita Happinets at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akita Happinets will have a break next round.
