Regular Season Round 17: Sokhumi - TSU Tbilisi 89-83

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#4) and TSU (#8). Sokhumi (10-6) won against visiting TSU (5-10) 89-83. TSU was trailing by 16 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 24-15 charge of Sokhumi, which allowed them to win the game. Sokhumi outrebounded TSU 51-35 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. International guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin, agency: Alti Sport) stepped up and scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and forward Tato Chachibaia (201-90) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Mikheil Chitashvili (193-84) responded with 20 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Sokhumi and four TSU players scored in double figures. TSU's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sokhumi maintains fourth place with 10-6 record. TSU lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with STU Tbilisi. Sokhumi will meet higher ranked Kutaisi (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TSU's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Samedicino-Academia.
