No shocking result in a game in Lodz where third ranked AZS Koszalin (13-15) smashed 8th ranked LKS Sphinx (4-24) 100-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. AZS Koszalin led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. AZS Koszalin outrebounded LKS Sphinx 41-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by LKS Sphinx's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when AZS Koszalin made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import guard LaMont McIntosh (190-82, college: Georgia St.) chipped in 21 points. Five AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Michal Michalak (194-93) who recorded 24 points and forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) added 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AZS Koszalin have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place in Group B with 13-15 record having four points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. Newly promoted LKS Sphinx keeps the eighth position with 24 games lost. AZS Koszalin will face league's second-placed Kotwica in Kolobrzeg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. LKS Sphinx will play at home against PBG Basket (#7) in Poznan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
