Regular Season Round 38: Salon Vilpas - Kouvot 77-69

Date: March 10, 2012
There was no surprise when 10th ranked Kouvot (11-22) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Salon Vilpas (15-20) 77-69. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 19-16 Kouvot's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 77-69 at the end of the game. American forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and point guard Roope Ahonen (187-90, agency: FCM) supported him with 15 points and 8 assists. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Salon Vilpas players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds by American forward Anthony Brown (203-86, college: Oklahoma St., agency: KMG Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Kouvot. His fellow American import guard Antoine Jordan (196-83, college: Siena) added 8 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Salon Vilpas have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with KTP. Kouvot at the other side keeps the tenth position with 22 games lost. Salon Vilpas will have a break next round. Kouvot will play at home against UU-Korihait (#9) in Uusikaupunki and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
