Eighth-ranked Toshiba Thunders (7-31) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Panasonic Trians (22-16) in Osaka. Panasonic Trians managed to secure only two-point victory 73-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Toshiba Thunders were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Panasonic Trians made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Fumihiko Aono (210-78) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) contributed with 12 points for the winners. The former international swingman Shohei Kikuchi (190-85) answered with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Toshiba Thunders. Toshiba Thunders' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Panasonic Trians moved-up to third place, which they share with Hitachi SR. Toshiba Thunders lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 31 lost games. Panasonic Trians will play against Tochigi Brex (#6) at home in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and hope to get back on the winning track.
