Second Stage Round 3: Polpharma - Siarka Jezioro 89-82

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Starogard where 4th placed Siarka Jezioro (12-16) was defeated by fifth ranked Polpharma (10-18) 89-82 on Saturday. Siarka Jezioro was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 28-20 charge of Polpharma, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was center Adam Metelski (208-83, college: Cal-Irvine) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds. International point guard Tomasz Snieg (190-89) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Five Polpharma players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Josh Miller (169, college: W.Virginia St.) who recorded 25 points and 4 assists and the former international power forward Wojciech Barycz (208-84, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Polpharma maintains fifth place in Group B with 10-18 record. Loser Siarka Jezioro keeps the fourth position with 16 games lost. Polpharma will face AZS Politechnika Warszawska (#6) in Warszawa in the next round. Siarka Jezioro will play at home against the league's leader Slask Wroclaw.
