There was a minor upset in Madrid where 6th ranked Space Tanit Eivissa (12-10) was defeated by ninth ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (10-11) 80-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by ASEFA Estudiantes. Space Tanit Eivissa was better in third quarter 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Space Tanit Eivissa 38-27 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Marta Zurro (186-80) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Center Elena Diaz (188-92) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach Diego Rubio used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Crista Ricketts (185-85, college: La Salle) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Anna Boleda (181-81) scored 21 points. Four Space Tanit Eivissa players scored in double figures. ASEFA Estudiantes have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain ninth place in Group B with 10-11 record. Loser Space Tanit Eivissa keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes will face Palma (#15) in Palma de Mallorca in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
