Regular Season Round 22: Panerythraikos - AEK/Argous 107-70

Bottom-ranked AEK/Argous (0-22) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 107-70 loss to twelfth ranked Panerythraikos (10-12) in New Eritrea on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Panerythraikos. AEK/Argous managed to win second period 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding AEK/Argous to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded AEK/Argous 44-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. Panerythraikos looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by AEK/Argous' players. Forward Antonios Michaloglou (202-88) scored 29 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Giannis Rodostoglou (197-83) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Panerythraikos players scored in double figures. Panerythraikos' coach Dimitris Houhoulis felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side naturalized Serbian guard Alex Stevovic (191-90) responded with 29 points and 7 assists and Giorgos Vourdoulas scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Panerythraikos moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Perama Ermis and Doxa Lefkadas. Loser AEK/Argous still closes the standings. Panerythraikos will meet higher ranked Lavrio (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. AEK/Argous will play against Pagrati (#15) in Athens and hopes to get finally their first victory.
