There was a minor upset in Cordoba where 6th ranked Quimsa (16-13) was defeated by ninth ranked Atenas (16-13) 90-74 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Atenas. Quimsa was better in second period 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Atenas won last quarter 22-8. The former international guard Bruno Labaque (183-77, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 21 points and 9 assists for the winners and American forward Marcus Melvin (203-82, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Strategic Sports) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Sebastian Vega (200-88) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Bernard Robinson (198-81, college: Michigan) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Four Atenas and five Quimsa players scored in double figures. Atenas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with GECR Indalo and Quimsa. Atenas will face league's second-placed Libertad Sunchales at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
