Second Stage Round 3: PGE Turow - Trefl Sopot 78-87

There was no surprise in Zgorzelec where bottom-ranked PGE Turow (0-3) was defeated by fourth ranked Trefl Sopot (2-1) 87-78 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Trefl Sopot made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. PGE Turow was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Filip Dylewicz (202-80) who scored 24 points and 8 rebounds. American power forward John Turek (205-83, college: Nebraska) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Australian-Dutch center Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and American guard David Jackson (193-86, college: W.Illinois) added 22 points respectively. PGE Turow's coach Jacek Winnicki rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Trefl Sopot keeps a position of Group A leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser PGE Turow still closes the standings with three games lost. Trefl Sopot will face league's second-placed Zastal ZG in Zielona Gora in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PGE Turow will play at home against Asseco Prokom (#3) in Gdynia and hopes to get finally their first victory.
