Regular Season Round 24: Valencia - Real Madrid 83-66

There was an upset when second-best Real Madrid (18-5) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Valencia Basket (13-11) 83-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. Real Madrid was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian power forward Serhiy Lishchuk (210-82, agency: Beo Basket) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. International power forward Victor Claver (207-88) chipped in 13 points. At the other side the best for losing team was international power forward Felipe Reyes (203-80) who recorded 10 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Jaycee Carroll (188-83, agency: Priority Sports) added 13 points respectively. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Valencia Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Real Madrid at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Valencia Basket will face Assignia Manresa (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Real Madrid will play against CAI Zaragoza (#7).
