Regular Season Round 24: CAI Zaragoza - Lucentum 65-49

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked CAI Zaragoza (13-11) won against at home 6th ranked Meridiano Alicante (13-11) 65-49 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by CAI Zaragoza. Meridiano Alicante was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was power forward Pablo Aguilar (203-89) who scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Brazilian center Rafael Hettsheimer (206-86) chipped in 15 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). CAI Zaragoza's coach Jose Luis Abos used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Benjamin Dewar (196-81, college: L.Superior) who recorded 16 points and naturalized American power forward Lamont Barnes (208-78, college: Temple) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively. CAI Zaragoza moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Meridiano Alicante. Meridiano Alicante lost fifth consecutive game. CAI Zaragoza will face league's second-placed Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Meridiano Alicante will play against Lagun Aro GBC in San Sebastian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
