Another exciting game for Optima Gent (6-15) which played on the court of 5th ranked Leuven Bears (11-9). Eighth ranked Optima Gent won 78-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leuven Bears. Leuven Bears were ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 21-13 charge of Optima Gent, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Michael Haynes (203-81, college: Fordham) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Senne Geukens (190-83) helped adding 20 points. Guard Niels Marnegrave (191-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian guard Adeola Dagunduro (196-86, college: Nebraska) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Leuven Bears players scored in double figures. Optima Gent maintains eighth place with 6-15 record. Leuven Bears at the other side keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Optima Gent will play against higher ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#6) in Quaregnon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leuven Bears will have a break next round.
