Regular Season Round 24: Breakers - Blaze 109-93

The game between Top Four teams took place in Auckland. First ranked host New Zealand Breakers (20-6) defeated 3rd ranked Gold Coast Blaze (16-11) 109-93. The game was mostly controlled by New Zealand Breakers. Gold Coast Blaze managed to win fourth quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was New Zealand swingman Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St., agency: Priority Sports) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Gary Wilkinson (204-82, college: Utah St.) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. New Zealand Breakers' coach Andrej Lemanis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Anthony Petrie (203-83) who recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds and Dominican guard Adris Deleon (180-84, college: E.Washington) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Four New Zealand Breakers and five Gold Coast Blaze players scored in double figures. New Zealand Breakers have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-6 record. Loser Gold Coast Blaze keeps the third place with 11 games lost. New Zealand Breakers will again meet Gold Coast Blaze (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gold Coast Blaze will have a break next round.
