Regular Season Round 39: Namika Lahti - ToPo 87-101

Very expected game when 11th ranked Namika Lahti (9-27) lost at home to fifth ranked Torpan Pojat (20-15) 101-87 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Torpan Pojat. Namika Lahti was better in second period 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Torpan Pojat forced 20 Namika Lahti turnovers and outrebounded them 37-24 including a 16-0 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Carl Lindbom (204-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Timo Heinonen (198-81) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Four Torpan Pojat players scored in double figures. American guard Malik Moore (192-77, college: Amer.Internat., agency: Prossin Sports Management) answered with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Ryan Brooks (193-81, college: Temple, agency: Pro One Sports) added 28 points in the effort for Namika Lahti. Torpan Pojat maintains fifth place with 20-15 record. Loser Namika Lahti stay dead last with 27 lost games. Torpan Pojat will face league's leader Joensuun Kataja at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Namika Lahti will play against Tampereen Pyrinto (#3).
