We should mention about the upset which took place in Tarragona, where higher ranked Girona FC (14-14) lost to fifteenth ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (11-17) in a road game 65-76. The game was mostly controlled by CB Tarragona 2017. Girona FC was better in second period 23-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CB Tarragona 2017 forced 20 Girona FC turnovers. The winners were led by power forward Roger Fornas (202-82) who scored that evening 18 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Jonathan Mitchell (200-87, college: Rutgers) supported him with 14 points. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by naturalized American power forward Darryl Middleton (203-66, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Girona FC. Latvian power forward Rolands Freimanis (207-88, agency: Players Group) added 15 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CB Tarragona 2017 maintains fifteenth position with 11-17 record. Girona FC at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 14 games lost. CB Tarragona 2017's next round opponent will be higher ranked Caceres 2016 (#12) on the road and it may be quite challenging game.
