An interesting game for Kutaisi (13-4) which hosted in Kutaisi one of their biggest challengers Sokhumi (10-7). Third ranked Kutaisi managed to get a 12-point victory 86-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sokhumi. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Sokhumi was better in third quarter 20-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Sokhumi outrebounded Kutaisi 51-32 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Kutaisi brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Sokhumi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Richard Matiashvili (209-89) had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and forward Giorgi Barbakadze (203-91) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Five Kutaisi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Sergo Atuashvili (223-85, agency: Kotnik Sports Agency) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and international guard Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Sokhumi's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kutaisi have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-4 record having just two points less than leader Armia. Sokhumi at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Kutaisi will play against Samedicino-Academia (#7) in Tbilisi in the next round. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi MIA.
