Regular Season Round 23: Villeneuve - Tarbes 83-89

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Tarbes (13-10) defeated on the road 9th ranked Villeneuve D'Asco (10-13) 89-83. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Tarbes outrebounded Villeneuve D'Asco 43-26 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Paoline Salagnac (176-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Ana-Maria Cata-Chitiga (195-89) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Nigerian center Olayinka Sanni (188-86, college: W.Virginia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) came up with 21 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Sidney Spencer (191-85, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) added 19 points respectively for Villeneuve D'Asco in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Tarbes. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Mondeville. Villeneuve D'Asco at the other side keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Tarbes' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Lattes Montpellier at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villeneuve D'Asco will play against Challes-les-Eaux (#3).
