Regular Season Round 21: Hogsbo - Malbas 67-81

Basketettan top team - Malbas (21-1) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Hogsbo (5-16) in Goteborg 81-67. The game was mostly controlled by Malbas. Hogsbo managed to win third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Hogsbo only scored seven points from the stripe. Malbas forced 21 Hogsbo turnovers. Australian guard John Fitzgerald (193-84, college: Lindsey Wilson) nailed 23 points and 8 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and power forward Alexander Nilsson (-90) accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Yannick Trott (189-83) came up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Spanish forward Jose Alberto Garcia (192-87) added 15 points respectively for Hogsbo in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Malbas. They maintain first place in South with 21-1 record. Hogsbo lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Malbas will meet at home IK Eos (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hogsbo will play against Hoganas and hope to secure a win.
