Regular Season Round 18: Olimpi - Rustavi 91-59

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Olimpi (13-3) crushed bottom-ranked Energy Invest (1-15) in Tbilisi 91-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpi. Energy Invest managed to win fourth quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpi dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Energy Invest's 30. They outrebounded Energy Invest 59-43 including a 44-31 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpi looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Energy Invest's players. Czech center Ivo Hoger (225-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) to lead the effort and Serbian center Ilija Milutinovic (211-88, college: Oakland, agency: Global Sports Plaza) supported him with 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Olimpi players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds by guard Luka Khmelidze (195-92) did not help to save the game for Energy Invest. Forward Zurabi Machavariani (192-90) added 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpi moved-up to second place. Energy Invest lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Olimpi will meet Batumi (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Energy Invest will play against the league's leader Armia in Tbilisi.
