There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Cairns Taipans (14-13) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Kings (11-16) 80-74. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 22-16 Cairns Taipans' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 80-74 at the end of the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Cairns Taipans helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international center Julian Khazzouh (209-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
