Rather predictable result when third ranked Panasonic Trians (23-17) won against 6th ranked Tochigi Brex (17-23) in Osaka 88-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Panasonic Trians. Tochigi Brex was better in fourth quarter 28-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tochigi Brex to just 5 points in second quarter. Panasonic Trians forced 20 Tochigi Brex turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Panasonic Trians made 8 blocks. Forward Toshihiro Nakatsuka (187-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. International guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Panasonic Trians players scored in double figures. American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and guard Ryuzo Anzai (178-80) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Panasonic Trians have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 23-17 record having seven points less than leader Aishin SH. Tochigi Brex lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 23 games lost. Panasonic Trians will face Hokkaido L. (#5) in Saporro in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play at home against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
