Second Stage Round 5: Heffingen - BBC Nitia 80-71

Very important is a road loss of third ranked BBC Nitia (2-19) against fourth ranked Heffingen (3-18) on Saturday night. Visiting BBC Nitia was defeated by Heffingen in a tough game in Heffingen 71-80. It looked good early as BBC Nitia took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Heffingen took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 9 points. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Portuguese power forward Helder Carvalho (205-84) nailed a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals for the winning side and Canadian forward Billy McNutt (203-85) accounted for 26 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. American forward William Arre (199-86, college: Lock Haven) came up with 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and Latvian power forward Janis Poznaks (202-83) added 18 points and 13 rebounds respectively for BBC Nitia in the defeat. Heffingen moved-up to third place in League. BBC Nitia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with 19 games lost. Heffingen will play against league's leader Basket Esch at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BBC Nitia will play against the league's second-placed Soleuvre in Belvaux and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
