Regular Season Round 21: Panathinaikos - Panionios 83-69

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#4) and Panionios (#3). Panathinaikos (15-6) won against visiting Panionios (15-6) 83-69. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Panionios. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American power forward Diana Delva (188, college: Hartford) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and the former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) chipped in 12 points and 14 rebounds. Panathinaikos' coach Giasemi Siamandoura used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was international power forward Peli Papamichail (189-86, agency: Josep and Nicolas) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and forward Marianna Axiopoulou (180-84) scored 12 points and 8 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Panathinaikos moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Panionios. Panathinaikos is looking forward to face PAOK (#10) in Thessaloniki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panionios will play at home against Apollon Ptol. (#12) in Ptolemaida and is hoping to win this game.
