Regular Season Round 23: Arkadikos - Apollon Patras 96-90

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Apollon Patras (17-6) against fourth ranked Arkadikos (14-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Apollon Patras was defeated by Arkadikos in a tough game in Arkadia 90-96. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Apollon Patras. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Apollon Patras won third quarter 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Arkadikos made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. Apollon Patras was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Miron Papadakis (183-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 assists. Power forward Sokrates Gizogiannis (202-82) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Five Arkadikos players scored in double figures. Naturalized Serbian swingman Vladimir Petrovic-Stergiou (198-77, agency: BeoExcell) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Croatian center Ivan Krolo (217-83) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Apollon Patras' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Arkadikos moved-up to third place, which they share with AEK and Ikaroi Serron. Apollon Patras at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Arkadikos will play against league's leader Panelefsiniakos in Eleusina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Apollon Patras will play at home against Ermis Lagkada in Lagadas and hopes to get back on the winning track.
