Regular Season Round 20: Toyota Alvark - Hitachi SR 63-61

Fourth-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (22-18) were very close to win a game against second ranked Toyota Alvark (28-12) in Fuchu on Sunday. Toyota Alvark managed to secure only two-point victory 63-61. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 17-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota Alvark made 8 blocks. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). International power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) contributed with 5 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Toyota Alvark's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game.
