Very important is a home loss of third ranked Panasonic Trians (23-17) against sixth ranked Tochigi Brex (17-23) on Sunday night. Host Panasonic Trians were crushed by Tochigi Brex in Osaka 96-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Panasonic Trians. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Panasonic Trians managed to win second period 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Panasonic Trians' 38. They outrebounded Panasonic Trians 45-34 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field) and international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) supported him with 17 points and 14 assists. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 12 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) did not help to save the game for Panasonic Trians. International point guard Hiroyuki Kinoshita (178-80) added 17 points for the hosts. Tochigi Brex maintains sixth position with 17-23 record. Panasonic Trians at the other side keep the third place with 17 games lost. Tochigi Brex will meet at home bottom-ranked Toshiba Thunders (#8) in the next round. Panasonic Trians will play against Hokkaido L. (#5) in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
