Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Air Avellino (12-12) lost at home to seventh ranked Scavolini Pesaro (13-9) 89-81 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-19. But Air Avellino won second period 27-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Scavolini Pesaro forced 24 Air Avellino turnovers. It was a very good performance for American guard James White (199-84, college: Cincinnati, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Jumaine Jones (203-79, college: Georgia) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Linton Johnson (203-80, college: Tulane, agency: Priority Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals and Slovenian-Croatian forward Jurica Golemac (209-77, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Air Avellino. Four Scavolini Pesaro and five Air Avellino players scored in double figures. Scavolini Pesaro maintains seventh place with 13-9 record. Air Avellino lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. Scavolini Pesaro will face league's second-placed Bennet Cantu at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Air Avellino will play against Angelico Biella (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
