Regular Season Round 28: Espoo Team - PeKa 86-78

The most important game in the last round took place in Espoo between second ranked Peli-Karhut (20-8) and fifth ranked Espoo Team (14-14) on Sunday night. Peli-Karhut was defeated by Espoo Team in a tough game on the road 78-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Peli-Karhut. Peli-Karhut trailed by 16 points after 3 quarters before a 24-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 78-86 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Niina Laaksonen (185-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. The former international Laura Wilson (184-84, college: Binghamton, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American-Puerto Rican forward Yolanda Jones (184-84, college: La-Lafayette) replied with 14 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Becca Bruszewski (185-88, college: Notre Dame) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Peli-Karhut. Five Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Espoo Team have an impressive six-game winning streak. Espoo Team maintains fifth position with 14-14 record. Defending champion Peli-Karhut keeps the second place with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
