Regular Season Round 7: Culiacan - Cananea 99-94

There was an upset when higher ranked Mineros de Cananea (3-4) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (1-6) 99-94 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 27-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Ricardo Lopez fired 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. American forward Rob Robinson (203-87, college: Robert Morris, agency: SDJ Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. Caballeros de Culiacan's coach Jonathan Meza allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Derek Thomas (193-84, college: Appalachian St.) produced 22 points and American-Portuguese power forward Calvin Clemmons (203-81, college: Charlotte, agency: SDJ Sports) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Caballeros de Culiacan and five Mineros de Cananea players scored in double figures. Caballeros de Culiacan left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Defending champion Mineros de Cananea keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will face again higher ranked Mineros de Cananea (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
