Regular Season Round 7: Nogales - Guasave 97-84

Date: March 20, 2012
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Frayles de Guasave (3-4) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (3-4) 97-84 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Fuerza Guinda Nogales. Frayles de Guasave was better in second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) fired 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Brandon Heredia (180-85, college: Lon Morris JC) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Fuerza Guinda Nogales' coach John Saintignon allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized Panamanian forward Gabriel Giron (192-88) produced 19 points and American forward Charles Moore (201-86, college: S.Arkansas) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Fuerza Guinda Nogales and five Frayles de Guasave players scored in double figures. Fuerza Guinda Nogales moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Guasave and Cananea. Fuerza Guinda Nogales will face again Frayles de Guasave (#8) at home in the next round.
