There was no surprise when 6th ranked Polpharma (11-20) was outplayed on the road by third ranked AZS Koszalin (16-16) 89-68 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-68. AZS Koszalin had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. AZS Koszalin looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Mateusz Jarmakowicz (208-88) stepped up and scored 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Jeremy Simmons (203-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Piotr Dabrowski (192-86) scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AZS Koszalin moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with Kotwica. Loser Polpharma dropped to the fifth position with 20 games lost. AZS Koszalin will face AZS Politechnika Warszawska (#6) in Warszawa in the next round. Polpharma will play at home against Kotwica in Kolobrzeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
