The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked B.C. Habikaa's (7-11) road loss to seventh ranked Maccabi Ashdod (10-9) 72-83 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. B.C. Habikaa managed to win fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to B.C. Habikaa's 32. They outrebounded B.C. Habikaa 41-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Ofer Berkovic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB) produced 18 points and 9 assists and guard Frank Robinson (193-84, college: CS Fullerton) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Maccabi Ashdod have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hapoel J-M and Ironi Ashkelon. Loser B.C. Habikaa keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will meet Bnei Hasharon (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. B.C. Habikaa will have a break next round.
