There was no surprise when 4th placed Santarcangelo (12-19) lost on the road to second ranked Torino (19-12) 61-57 on Thursday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But Santarcangelo won third quarter 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Santarcangelo 41-29 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for naturalized San Marino Federico Tassinari (195-77, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. The former international forward Cristiano Masper (208-73) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Center Andrea Ancellotti (212-88) answered with 8 points and 10 rebounds and guard Matteo Palermo (190-91) added 14 points in the effort for Santarcangelo. Torino maintains second place with 19-12 record having just two points less than leader Omegna, which they share with Treviglio. Newly promoted Santarcangelo keeps the fourth position with 19 games lost. Torino will face Fabriano (#5) in the next round. Santarcangelo will play against Latina Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
