Regular Season Round 19: Batumi - Olimpi 85-103

Very expected game when 10th ranked Batumi (2-15) was defeated at home by second ranked Olimpi (14-3) 103-85. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpi. Batumi was better in fourth quarter 27-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Batumi's 30. They outrebounded Batumi 44-21 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpi players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Czech center Ivo Hoger (225-82, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds (on 15-of-17 shooting from the field). The former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Olimpi's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) answered with 28 points and 4 assists and guard Ivane Maisuradze (194-85) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Batumi. Five Olimpi and four Batumi players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Olimpi. Newly promoted Olimpi maintains second place with 14-3 record having just three points less than leader Armia. Batumi lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Olimpi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Dinamo Tbilisi.
