Regular Season Round 25: GTK Gliwice - AZS AGH Alstom 87-79

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked AZS AGH Alstom (13-12) lost on the road to eighth ranked GTK Gliwice (13-12) 87-79 on Saturday. AZS AGH Alstom was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of GTK Gliwice, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to AZS AGH Alstom's 28 and made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. GTK Gliwice forced 24 AZS AGH Alstom turnovers and outrebounded them 30-17 including 21 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when GTK Gliwice made 10 blocks. It was a very good performance for forward Przemyslaw Malona (198-85) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Guard Tomasz Wrobel (180-85) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four GTK Gliwice players scored in double figures. GTK Gliwice's coach Jacek Adamczak used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Grzegorz Dudzik (190-84) answered with 28 points and 6 steals (made all of his seventeen free throws !!!) and guard Michal Szewczyk (184-85) added 18 points and 6 steals in the effort for AZS AGH Alstom. GTK Gliwice moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Alba Chorzow and AZS AGH Alstom. GTK Gliwice will face league's leader Slask II W. in Wroclaw in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
