There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Pomezia (7-13) won against on the road higher ranked S.E.Battipaglia (12-9) 69-65 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-65. Forward Carolina Scibelli (182-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Laura Gelfusa (186-79) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Pomezia players scored in double figures. Swingman Irene Pieropan (182-91) answered with 23 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Elena Riccardi (187-82) added 13 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for S.E.Battipaglia. Pomezia moved-up to tenth place in South. Newly promoted S.E.Battipaglia keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Pomezia will face higher ranked Orvieto (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
