Fourth-ranked BBC Nitia (2-20) made lots of trouble for second ranked Soleuvre (11-11) in Bettembourg on Saturday. The visitors from Belvaux managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 24-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely BBC Nitia outrebounded Soleuvre 46-31 including a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by BBC Nitia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American Lamonte Ulmer (198-86, college: Rhode Island) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. Belgian power forward Dimitri Jorssen (212-79, college: Utah St.) chipped in 19 points. Soleuvre's coach Jean-Pierre Fransquet used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward William Arre (199-86, college: Lock Haven) who recorded a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists and Latvian power forward Janis Poznaks (202-83) added 12 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Soleuvre maintains second position in League with 11-11 record having eleven points less than leader T71. Newly promoted BBC Nitia keeps the fourth place with 20 games lost. Soleuvre are looking forward to face Heffingen (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BBC Nitia will play against the league's leader Basket Esch and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
