Torpan Pojat (#5) was upset in Lappeenranta by eighth ranked LrNMKY 84-67. It looked good early as Torpan Pojat took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then LrNMKY had a 22-19 second period charge getting the lead and Torpan Pojat was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-84. LrNMKY forced 19 Torpan Pojat turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Torpan Pojat's players. American guard DeAndre Haynes (187-84, college: Kent St., agency: Court Side) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds, 13 assists and 6 steals for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Lawrence Hamm (198-84, college: Towson, agency: Court Side) accounted for 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five LrNMKY players scored in double figures. American guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) came up with 27 points and forward Carl Lindbom (204-91) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Torpan Pojat in the defeat. Torpan Pojat's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. LrNMKY have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Salon Vilpas. Torpan Pojat at the other side keeps the fifth position with 17 games lost. LrNMKY will play against higher ranked Tampereen Pyrinto (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Torpan Pojat will play against Kouvot in Kouvola and hopes to get back on the winning track.
