Regular Season Round 25: Aalstar - Antwerp 71-74

The most exciting game of round 25 in the D1 took place in Aalst. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 4th placed Okapi Aalstar (12-9) to third ranked Antwerp Giants (15-7) 74-71 on Saturday evening. Okapi Aalstar was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The game was dominated by American players. point guard Timothy Black (178-81, college: Barton, NC, agency: Limelight Hoops) fired 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Michael Roll (196-87, college: UCLA) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Antwerp Giants' coach Eddy Casteels used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Christopher Copeland (203-84, college: Colorado) produced 29 points and 4 assists and guard Stefon Jackson (196-85, college: UTEP) added 15 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Antwerp Giants moved-up to second place, which they share with Oostende. Okapi Aalstar at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Antwerp Giants is looking forward to face bottom-ranked VOO Verviers-Pepinster (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Okapi Aalstar will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut (#6) in Quaregnon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
